1. MADIKERI 

Madikeri is a hill town in Karnataka, which is the center for our Coorg complete exploration . as Madikeri in the center we can move our places into north, south, east, west . In Madikeri itself you can explore Omkareshwara temple, Raja’s seat, Raja’s tomb, Madikeri fort. About these places we will explore detailly . 

Madikeri is a place  recommended for the stay as it is accessible to most of the tourist places in Coorg . You even have the option of bike rentals and car rentals in the Madikeri so it is one of the most favorable things to all of you .

2. ABBEY FALLS 

 Abbey falls is known as the abbi falls which is one of the well known falls in the Coorg. Abbey falls is one of the tourist locations to the north of the Madikeri . River Kaveri drops from the 70 ft rock which gives the mesmerizing view to us. It is one of the well known unique waterfalls in Karnataka as this is not a waterfall from too high but this is one of the waterfalls which has a wider waterfall area .  The abbey waterfall is located in a coffee plantation and getting down into water or swimming is not allowed.

 3. MALLALLI FALLS

Mallalli waterfall is one of the wonderful waterfalls in Karnataka .This waterfall is around the 120 ft height which is located in the foot of Pushpagiri hills . The waterfall  is by  the Kumaradhara river.  This is one of the tourist places which comes to the north of Madikeri . To reach this waterfall you need to trek for a few minutes to see the spectacular beauty. Mostly always recommended to visit in monsoon or in summer it may be completely dry.

 4. DUBARE ELEPHANT CAMP  

This is one of the most attractive tourist places in Coorg which is not to miss. This is one of the tourist places which is towards the east of the Madikeri . Dubare elephant camp is located on the banks of kaveri river which is necessary to our inner child’s heart . Depending on the season and waterflow we should cross the river water by walking in the water or if water flow is too much through small boats which you need to pay extra. 

Dubare elephant camp is mainly known for the taking care of the elephants by the karnataka forest department and mainly the elephants which are here are the elephants which take part in the world famous Mysore dasara. 

The activities here are you would have interaction with the elephants, bathing to elephants in the kaveri river by the tourists,feeding food to the elephants .

5.RAJA’S SEAT 

Raja’s seat is one of the attractive sightseeing places in the Madikeri town and one of the recommended places when you visit with your family. Raja’s seat is commonly known as the Seat of Kings . It was a known place where the Kodagu kings used to enjoy their evening with a beautiful sunset and the sunrise with the lush green beauty . This place is along with a Ghandi Mantap park which attracts the children as an attractive toy train is there.

6.NAMDROLING MONASTERY BYLAKUPPE 

This is one of the tourist places to the east of Madikeri . It is also known as the Golden temple  and it is the one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India.This one of the places for Namdroling Monastery’s main entrance is an attractive four story tower with a wheel portraying symbols of Buddhism.  In side the monastery where the tourists can visit is the temple, three big statues are there which are in the middle the lord buddha who is known as the founder of buddhism and lord amitayus and lord Padmasambhava are on either side of lord buddha . It is a must visit place for different experiences as this place is different from our Indian culture. 

 You can pray,meditate, and rotate the mani  prayer drums which is one of the traditions of buddhist temples which means it gives the same benefit of chanting ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’. Inside the temple premises you have even the option for shopping .

7.  NAGARAHOLE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Nagarahole wildlife sanctuary spreads a wide range over mysore and coorg , it is one of the well known in karnataka. It is the connection between the Bandipur wildlife sanctuary and brahmagiri wildlife sanctuary for the tigers and the elephants. It is one of the most recommended places for the wildlife enthusiasts and photographers as you can go for a wildlife safari as you can experience wild animals mainly tigers , elephants and innumerable flora,fauna,reptiles etc .

8. BHAGAMANDALA 

Coorg is not only known for its mesmerizing beauty also known for its greatest culture to justify this Bhagamandala is one of the places . Bhagamandala temple, also known as Bhagandeshwara kshetra is present in the Bhagamandala village also along with triveni sangam also is one of the sightseeing places here . Here the lord Bhagandeshwara is present which is the form of lord shiva is mainly present along with this lord ganesha,lord narayana and lord Subramanya swamy are also present.

9. TALAKAVERI 

This is one of the tourist places to the west of the Madikeri . Talakaveri is located in the brahmagiri hills and is one of the religious spots. Talakaveri is known as the birthplace of river Kaveri . This place has two temples one is lord shiva and another one lord ganesha temple.

10. OMKARESHWARA TEMPLE 

Omkareshwara temple located in the Madikeri is also one of the well known religious places in the coorg. Omkareshwara temple was built in 1820 by King Lingarajendra II as an act of penance. The temple was built in the Muhammadan style of architecture consisting of a dome in the center.

11. RAJA’S TOMB 

It is also known as Gaddige is a 19th century monument dedicated to the royal members of Kodava clan . It is one of the famous historical places in Coorg which is attractive to history lovers .

12. CHIKLI HOLE RESERVIOUR 

This is one of my most recommended places to visit in the coorg. This is one of the tourist places which is towards the east of the Madikeri. It is made by one of the tributaries of river Kaveri, an absolute best place to visit during the sunset. The Chikli hole reservoir is surrounded by the thick lush green forest,  water and a grassland, a perfect picnic spot. This place is a less crowded place compared to other places and this is a man-made beauty with nature where the beauty appears by the overflow of the river Kaveri .

13. HARANGI DAM 

This is one of the tourist places towards the east of the Madikeri. This is one of the well known famous dams in the coorg , built under the tributary of kaveri river around the height of 47 meters . It is one of the popular picnic spots in the coorg with pleasant nature.

14. MANDALPATTI VIEW POINT 

Mandalpatti view point is one of the tourist places north from the Madikeri.  One of the recent famous tourist spots in the coorg famous for its mesmerizing beauty of lush green mountains . This is also a place for the trekking lovers who can trek and have fun and then you may have doubts. If I’m not a trek lover then I can’t admire nature. No, you can absolutely enjoy nature as we have the option of jeep ride. Jeep ride is one of the must try here as it is adventurous so don’t miss it.

15. HONNAMANA KERE LAKE

HOW TO GET TO COORG 

BY ROAD – 

You have direct Karnataka government buses from Bangalore and from other major towns

It’s also a perfect destination for bike riding 

Many travel agencies and cab agencies offer cabs to Coorg. The roadway is a must experience as you go through Mysore from Bangalore in the forest so don’t miss it.

BY RAIL –  

There is a direct railway station to Coorg the nearest options are Mysore railway station which has a wide range connectivity and even Mangalore railway station is also an option. 

BY AIRWAYS – 

There is no airport; the nearest airport is the Mangalore international airport and even Mysore airport is there.
