The Fashion Chronicles

Helloooo, fabulous fashion enthusiasts!!!

Welcome to the very first post on The Fashion Chronicles.

I’m very much excited to discuss with you about all the things that go beyond the surface of fashion.

I’m a student pursuing a master’s in fashion design. While I personally love to style up in a trending outfit that makes me feel special on a particular day, this blog is about so much more.

It’s a space where we’ll explore each and every corner of fashion, including its pros and cons.Screenshot 2024-06-22 221506

What This Blog Is All About

Fashion!!!

I know that most of you guys “know fashion” as getting dressed in trendy, stylized clothes according to your personality or body shape, representing yourself in your signature style, and following market trends.

But this blog broadens your view of the concept of fashion.

Alright!

Let me break the concept of fashion for you.

Let’s divide fashion into 30% and 70%.

This 30% of fashion is what most of you all know about. This includes things like styling, trending colors, trending outfits, new designs in the market, fashion collections, famous brands with quality outfits etc.

70% of the fashion is what I’ll call the dark web of fashion. This side of fashion is not much known in general and is kept in the dark, with less awareness among the people.

It includes things like – smart and innovative fashion, functional apparels, technical garments, advancements in the fashion world, history of fashion, overconsumption of clothes causing landfills, the fashion industry being the #1 polluting industry in the world, labour exploitation, environmental pollution, the process of constructing a garment from scratch, and the amount of energy, water, chemicals that go into the environment, so on and on!

Hence, this blog mainly focuses on this 70% of the fashion concept along with occasional seasonings of the 30%.

And also, I will be talking about my portfolios, academic projects and things like that.

Why These Topics Matter

So why do you think these topics matter?

Because they will make you more knowledgeable about fashion? Or because they can become a topic over a cup of tea with your friends?

Well, it matters much more than that. If you are wearing a particular outfit, say a shirt from a particular brand, then you need to know how that shirt is made, from what it is made of, why it is so comfortable, why the color changes periodically etc. because you surely wouldn’t prefer that shirt if it is made by exploiting labours or causing harm to the environment.

These topics matter because they have a major impact on the environment, ethical consideration, mindful consumption.

You get to know about the advanced features in the fabrics that match your convenience. Let’s take the same example of the shirt. You are going to wear that shirt to an amusement park and you want that shirt to be sweat proof and give off a soothing fragrance. Here comes to the rescue: the aromatic finishing treatment which is given to the shirt provides fragrance for several washes.

There are many more advanced fabrics and technologies involved in fashion, and I can’t wait to talk more about them with you!

I thank you for landing on my journey at The Fashion Chronicles. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to explore the future of fashion with you.

I want this blog to be as communicative as possible, where we can discuss, learn, and grow together. I am excited to read your feedback and ideas on this post.

Note: It is completely okay to have different thoughts from mine. This post is about how I interpret the fashion. I’m open to all your queries and suggestions, and I would love to know your point of view on this.
 Let’s stay connected!

Until next time,

stay stylish and informed! With purpose,

 RK//:)

In this blog post, I delve into the lesser-known functional aspects and sustainability of fashion, like the FREECULTR Men’s Bamboo Undershirts. These undershirts exemplify innovative and eco-friendly fashion with their anti-microbial, anti-odor properties, and super-soft bamboo fabric. Bamboo’s sustainable cultivation and minimal environmental impact make these shirts a perfect example of how fashion can be both functional and environmentally responsible.
