1. MULLAYANAGIRI  PEAK :           

               With an altitude of 1950 metres , Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in karnataka which makes the mesmerising attraction for adventure lovers . The weather and temperature lean heavily on the pleasant and calming side . Make sure you wear comfortable attire as you need to climb a little bit with an inclination of 60 degrees .        

ENTRY FEES – There is no entry fees 

TIMINGS – Preferably between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm  



2. BABABUDANGIRI HILLS – 

 Bababudangiri is a mountain in the western ghats of karnataka . also a treat for both adventure seekers and pilgrims . History tells that baba Budan lived here in 17 th century . Legend had  smuggled some coffee beans from Arab and sowed the first seeds of coffee beans . Today KARNATAKA is one of the producers of coffee in INDIA . It is a sacred spot for the Hindu and the Muslim community as frequented by people for the Daragh of Baba Budangiri , called as ‘Sri Guru Dattreya Baba Budan Swamy Daragh . Baba Budan was a Sufi saint who came to this mountain and started meditating in the cave where once Dattatreya meditated . 

ENTRY FEES – There is no entry fees 

TIMINGS – Visit between 7:00 am to 5:00pm 



3. Z POINT

 Z point a small trek around 3.5kms to see the serene surroundings with a 360 degree view of beautiful green landscapes with a small waterfall on the way of the trek also offers several adventurous activities . The cool breeze that blows your hair on the peak and the sunset on the horizon in the evening will definitely leave you awestruck with a feeling that cannot be explained. 

 TIP :  In monsoon be aware of leeches take precautionary measures by applying dettol/savlon have salt or perfume with you . Also in monsoon it is slippery please wear comfortable required attire for trek YOU CAN CHECK HERE . Finally there are no shops or anything so carry water bottles , protein bars etc .

4. BHADRA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY- 

The sanctuary takes its name from the Bhadra River , popularly known as Muthodi wildlife sanctuary . It is a Tiger reserve area but  apart from the tiger it is a great place to sight and observe other mammals , reptiles and more than 250 species of birds , many of which are endemic to the Western ghats . The reason to visit is,  the karnataka forest department organises jeep Safari in which you can witness a high probability of tiger , leopard  , deers and many more animals and birds . Another reason is you can witness Bhadra dam which offers a great view when water is being released.

5. HEBBE FALLS – 

             It is one of the most popular waterfalls in karnataka . Hebbe  falls is 168 metres in height and ensures mystical experience to everyone who takes effort to reach the falls. River Bhadra falls as the beautiful Hebbe falls . Hebbe falls is situated about 10 km away from the famous hill station Kemmangundi in Chikmagalur town in Karnataka. The waterfalls gushes down in two stages to form Dodda Hebbe and Chikka Hebbe meaning Big falls and Small falls. The majestic falls are located inside a coffee estate and can be reached either by a walk or by a four wheeler .

6.  JHARI WATERFALLS 

Also known as buttermilk falls, one of the well known falls in Chikmagalur district . Jhari falls are usually visited along with Mullayanagiri and Bababudangiri . Jhari falls is located in dense forest and coffee plantation where water originating in the flows over steep rocks offering a wide, thin layer of spectacular waterfall. This waterfall offers a pool at the base which is nice to swim or dip into the water.

                              BUT JEEP RIDE WOULD COST AROUND 600 RS PER PERSON.

7.  KEMMANAGUNDI 

Kemmanagundi is a place which forms the centre for spectacular places like z point , Shanti falls , Hebbe falls , Kalhatti falls . It is famous for its beautifully laid out ornamental gardens , enchanting mountains and valley views . It is one of the perfect places for sunset view from the raj bhavan, a lovely place for photographer’s and even love to take their pictures with the best background. Kemmanagundi is also known as the Krishnarajendra hill station as this place was the summer retreat of Maharaja Krishna Wodeyer IV , the 24th Maharaja of Mysore . Kemmanagundi in the local language known as kempu means red , mannu means soil and gundi means pit. This place is known for its red soil .

8.  HIREKOLALE LAKE 

One of the popular and must visit in the Chikmagalur which is present in the foothills of the Mullayanagiri hills is a calm and serene lake one of the best recommended places for the nature lovers .This beautiful man made lake as been made for the source of drinking water to the town . Mainly visited during the sunset which offers a mesmerising view.

9.  SIRI COFFEE

10.  BELUR HALEBEEDU TEMPLE 

One of the ancient and historic places not to miss as this is on the way , represents the brilliant and astonishing craftsmanship of hoysala architecture. Here lord vishnu , the splendid Chennakeshava temple is believed to be built in the 11th century .

HOW TO REACH CHIKMAGALURU 

BY RAILWAYS :  Bangalore to Kadur 

                                    As there is no direct railway station to Chikmagalur , so get down at Kadur railway station from here 45 mins to Chikmagalur. 

BY ROADWAYS : KSRTC offers direct bus service from Bangalore to Chikmagalur and even from other major towns . 

In your own private vehicle, roadways are connected by national highway NH75 as well as state highways . 

BY AIRWAYS : The nearest airport to Chikmagalur is Mangalore airport, from here around 110 kms to Chikmagalur.
